The Maintenance Manager plays an integral role in ensuring the smooth operation of a facility's machinery and equipment, thereby supporting the overall productivity and efficiency of the operation. This position involves overseeing a team of maintenance professionals, coordinating repair and maintenance schedules, and ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard. With a focus on preventative maintenance, the Lead Maintenance Technician also works to identify potential issues before they become significant problems, contributing to the longevity of the facility's assets. Through their expertise and leadership, they ensure that the physical aspects of the operation are in optimal condition, allowing other departments to function effectively and without unnecessary interruption.

•Perform routine maintenance checks and repairs on building systems including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing to ensure optimal operation.
•Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance staff, assigning tasks, and ensuring quality and timely completion of work.
•Diagnose complex mechanical issues and provide solutions, utilizing advanced knowledge of machinery and tools.
•Implement and manage a preventive maintenance program to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
•Liaise with external contractors and service providers, overseeing major repairs and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
•Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring availability while controlling costs.
•Update and maintain accurate maintenance records and reports for regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
•Design and execute training programs for maintenance staff on new equipment, safety protocols, and best practices.


Education: A Lead Maintenance Manager typically holds a High School Diploma, with many pursuing further education such as Some College Courses, a Post-Secondary Certificate, or an Associate's Degree. Relevant fields of study include mechanical engineering, electrical systems, or building maintenance. Courses in mathematics, technical reading, and computer applications are advantageous. Specializing in areas like HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems through specific coursework can enhance job prospects and expertise in the maintenance field.

Experience: Maintenance Managers typically have a solid foundation in hands-on technical roles, often progressing from entry-level positions. Their experience encompasses a broad range of maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance across various systems and equipment. On-the-job training plays a crucial role, supplemented by structured training programs to refine their skills in leadership, project management, and specific technical areas. This blend of practical experience and targeted training prepares them to oversee maintenance teams, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to safety standards.

Certifications & Licenses: Certifications and licenses for a Maintenance Manager may include HVAC certification (e.g., EPA Section 608), electrical licenses, and Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) certification.
